URBANDALE, Iowa – The Des Moines Buccaneers, proud USHL affiliate, announced today that USA Hockey has selected forward Ben Kevan (Key-vin) and defenseman Edison Engle to participate in the 2025 Chipotle All-American game on Jan. 16 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, MI at 7 p.m. ET.
Kevan and Engle recently helped Team USA earn gold at the 2024 World Junior A Challenge (WJAC) in mid-December. Team USA posted a 5-1-0-0 record along the way to a gold medal.
Ben Kevan placed fourth overall in the WJAC tournament with eight points off six goals and two assists in five outings. He was second overall in the tournament in goals scored, including a tourney record-tying four power-play goals.
The right wing picked up in 2024-25 where he left off in 2023-24. After leading the Bucs in scoring last year with 24 goals and 57 points in 59 games played, Kevan has managed a point a game this year. In 16 games played, the Arizona State commit has six goals and 16 points. The 17-year-old California native, has played in a total of 75 games for Des Moines, scoring 30 goals and adding 33 assists for 73 points.
Edison Engle, 17, has suited up 20 times for the Buccaneers this season, setting up two goals with a -4 rating. He was held without a point in the five outings for Team USA at the WJAC. Engle drew top-end defensive assignments on his way to a +2 rating in the tourney.
The 6-foot-2, 187-pound defenseman committed to Ohio State University after posting 12 points (1g-11a) in 33 games during the 2023-24 season with Des Moines. In 53 career games with the Bucs, the Arlington Heights, IL native has 15 assists and 16 points.
Engle and Kevan bring the total of Buccaneers selected for this game to 10. The last Buc to receive the honor was defenseman Jackson Dorrington in 2022.
The 2025 Chipotle All-American Game will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Michigan. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. ET, and the game will be broadcast live on NHL Network.
The Chipotle All-American Game features the top American-born prospects eligible for the upcoming NHL Draft. The annual event, which began in 2012, has seen 321 players go on to be drafted, including 70 first round picks. The 2024 All-American Game took place on Jan. 15 at USA Hockey Arena in Plymouth, Mich.
The Bucs return home on Friday, Jan. 3 for a 7:00 p.m. faceoff against the visiting Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and a Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchup. Des Moines hosts 2-for-1 beer night (some restrictions apply). It's also a Fareway Friday – bring a Fareway receipt to receive a BOGO at the Bucs box office.
On Jan. 4, the Lincoln Stars visit the Bucs or 6:30 p.m. faceoff. The team is encouraging fans to bring new or gently used Hats and Mittens for those in need this winter. Fans may stick around after the game and join the Des Moines Buccaneers for a 45-minute post-game skate.
The weekend concludes on Sunday, Jan. 5 at 4:30 p.m. as the Bucs welcome the Fargo Force. It sets up as a perfect family day. Early puck from and action-packed fun for all.
