Lincoln, Neb. — The Des Moines Buccaneers (26-27-4-4) picked up two points with a 4-2 win against the Lincoln Stars (28-28-4-1) Friday night at the Ice Box. Bucs forward Owen Tylec led the offense, tallying two goals on the night. Bucs goalie Alan Lendak (20-11-1-0) backstopped the Des Moines victory with 29 saves. The Bucs return home for a matchup against the Sioux City Musketeers tomorrow night at 6:05 p.m. at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex.
Bucs defenseman Keaton Orrey opened the scoring of the match as his shot from the blue line flew past Menard to give Des Moines the initial 1-0 lead. Orrey's power-play goal was assisted by forwards Henry Major and Luke Norcross 15:41 into the first period. Forward Owen Tylec doubled the Bucs lead with another power-play goal at 19:54, tipping in a pass from Blake Zielinski for his 18th goal of the season.
Stars top-scoring forwards Alex Pelletier netted his 47th goal of the season 10:54 into the middle frame to cut the Des Moines advantage to 2-1. Tylec responded with his second on the night at 14:05, sending home Ryan Seelinger's rebounded shot for his 19th goal of the season, extending the lead to 3-1. Forward Joey Argentina picked up a centering pass from Luke Norcross and sent his shot from the slot flying past Menard to widen the Bucs lead once more at 15:27. Argentina's 11th goal of the season widened the Bucs lead once more at 4-1.
Stars forward Kade Kohanski's shot from the right-wing circle found the top-shelf 16:30 into the final frame to show a final score of 4-2.
