Nelson is a 2008-born defenseman out of Monticello, Minn., who put up 34P (10G, 24A) in 28GP for Monticello High in the 2025-26 season. He was selected by the Sioux Falls Stampede 126th overall in the 9th round of the 2024 USHL Phase I Draft and is committed to the University of Connecticut.

"We're really excited to add Nicklas Nelson to our organization," said Derek Damon, Head Coach & President of Hockey Operations. "He's a very good skater who defends hard, competes, and has the ability to contribute offensively. We believe his game will translate really well to our defensive corps, and he brings a combination of skating, competitiveness, and upside that we value. We're excited to welcome Nicklas and believe he's another important piece as we continue to work toward our ultimate goal."

The Buccaneers wish Major the best as he continues his USHL career in Sioux Falls.
