Des Moines, Iowa — The Des Moines Buccaneers (8-6-2-3) fell to the Lincoln Stars (10-9-0-0) in a 2-1 contest in the first of a two-game home stand Friday night at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. A power-play game-winning goal came from Stars forward John Hirschfeld 4:43 into the final frame to pull Lincoln ahead. Bucs goalie Max Weilandt (8-4-2-2) stopped 25 of 27 Stars shots on net in the loss, while Stars goalie William Prowse (8-5-0-0) claimed the victory with 21 saves. The Bucs return to host the Sioux City Musketeers at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex Saturday, Nov. 22, at 6:05 p.m.
Stars forward Drew Dellasalla tallied the lone goal of the opening period at 15:07 off a pass by defenseman Nikolas Young to bring Lincoln ahead 1-0.
Nate Delladonna tallied the lone goal of the second period, shooting the puck past Prowse at 17:16. Delladonna's eighth goal of the season was assisted by forwards Ryland Rooney and Riley Zupfer and showed a score of 1-1.
Stars forward John Hirschfeld returned the Lincoln lead 4:43 into the final frame with a power-play goal to show a final score of 2-1.
