Des Moines Buccaneers

The 2025–26 season will be Cogan's first as an assistant coach for the Bucs. He most recently served as an assistant coach on the bronze medal–winning men's USA U18 team at the IIHF U18 World Championships. Cogan spent the previous two seasons as a player development coach and volunteer assistant for USA Hockey's National Team Development Program (NTDP) in Plymouth, MI.

A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Cogan served as an active-duty Marine and Special Operations Officer for over 21 years prior to becoming a full-time coach. He is a USA Hockey Level 5 Coach and has 13 years of coaching experience, including serving as a guest coach with the Carolina Hurricanes (NHL) during their 2023 player development camp. He also played four years of ACHA hockey at Niagara University before joining the Marine Corps.
