BUCS BLANK LANCERS 9-0

West Des Moines, Iowa — The Des Moines Buccaneers (21-20-3-4) dominated the Omaha Lancers (11-33-2-2) with a 9-0 victory Friday night at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. Des Moines defenseman Ryland Randle tallied a career-high 4P (2G, 2A), netting the opening goal of the night just 2:43 into the contest. Bucs goalie Alan Lendak (15-9-0-0) posted his second-straight shutout with 25 saves on the night. The Bucs look ahead to a matchup against the Sioux Falls Stampede tomorrow, Feb. 27, at 7:05 p.m. at the RecPlex.

Randle opened the scoring of the match with a one-time shot from the blue line for a power-play goal 2:43 into the opening frame. Randle's ninth goal of the season gave the Bucs the initial 1-0 lead and was assisted by forwards Henry Major and Joseph Argentina. Bucs forward Blake Zielinski doubled the lead at 7:46, shooting past an Omaha defender for his 18th goal of the season, assisted by Riley Zupfer to bring the score to 2-0. 

The Bucs then netted three goals in under a minute and a half to close out the first period. Owen Tylec tallied his 13th goal on the year at 14:16, sending home a shot from the left-wing circle off a pass from Ryan Seelinger. Nathan Hauad buried his fourth on the season at 14:43 with an assist from Harper Searles. Argentina found a wide-open back door at 15:44 to bring the Bucs lead to 5-0 with assists from Blake Zielinski and Keaton Orrey.

Randle netted his second of the night at 2:15 of the middle frame, dribbling the puck past the Lancers goaltender with assists from Seelinger and Tylec. Rhys Wallin tapped the puck past the goal line on the power play at 4:19 for his 11th goal on the year from Randle and Tylec. Forward Jakub Dubravik capped the scoring of the first period, stickhandling past Omaha defensemen and bringing the score to 8-0 at 16:57. Dubravik's fourth goal on the season was assisted by Randle and Cade De St. Hubert.

Defenseman Barrett Dexheimer capped off the scoring of the match with his second goal of the season, placing his shot from the left-wing circle top-shelf 6:41 into the final frame. Dexheimer's goal was assisted by Jason Davenport and Jakub Dubravik, showing a final score of 9-0.

The Bucs look ahead to two more home games this weekend. Saturday, February 28, is the Bucs' annual Guns N Hoses game, benefiting Easterseals Iowa, featuring specialty jerseys and a post-game jersey auction. The Bucs will host the Sioux Falls Stampede at 7:05 p.m., and it is also Mug Club 1/2 off beverages and Tito's Saturday. Sunday, March 1, is Winger's birthday!
