HAT TRICK LIFTS MUSKETEERS PAST BUCS 6-4

Des Moines, Iowa — The Des Moines Buccaneers (8-7-2-3) fell to the Sioux City Musketeers (8-12-1-0) in a 6-4 loss Saturday night at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. Sioux City was led by forward Lenny Giger's hat trick, as he tallied a goal in each period for the Musketeers. Muskies goalie Ryder Shea (1-0-0-0) fought off 24 of 28 shots on net, while Bucs goalie Max Weilandt  (8-5-2-2) ended the contest with 19 saves. The Bucs head to Dubuque for a Wednesday night Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchup against the Fighting Saints at 7:05 p.m. at ImOn Ice Arena.

Musketeers forward Lenny Giger opened the scoring of the match 7:01 into the opening frame, capitalizing on a 3-on-1 opportunity for Sioux City to show a score of 1-0. Bucs forward Ryan Seelinger responded with a power-play goal at 18:23, tapping in a pass from Riley Zupfer's pass. Seelinger's 11th goal on the season was also assisted by defenseman Keaton Orrey and evened the score 1-1.

Brock Stevenson tallied an early second-period goal for the Musketeers to bring Sioux City ahead 2-1 just 44 seconds into the middle frame. Des Moines forward Ryland Rooney tapped in a shot from the point by Orrey to even the score once more. Forward William Soffer notched the second assist on Rooney's fifth goal of the season that brought the contest to 2-2. Bucs forward Rhys Wallin gave Des Moines their first lead of the contest at 15:40 with his fifth goal of the season, burying a rebounded shot by Jason Davenport. Defenseman Ryan Kroll also assisted on the goal that brought the Bucs ahead 3-2. Sioux City responded with two unanswered goals to grab the lead at the close of the middle frame. Giger notched his second of the night on the power play at 17:48, and Trey Jefferis put up a short-handed goal at 19:45, showing a score of 4-3.

Giger tallied his third of the night with a power-play goal 3:46 into the final frame, extending the Musketeers lead to 5-3. A short-handed empty-net goal for the Musketeers' Mason Stenger at 16:56 showed a score of 6-3. Zupfer responded for Des Moines with a power-play goal at 16:56, forcing the puck in from the crease. Forwards Adam Zidlicky and Joseph Argentina tallied the assists on Zupfer's fourth goal of the season that showed a final score of 6-4.

The Bucs head to Dubuque for a Wednesday night Dupaco Cowbell Cup matchup against the Fighting Saints at 7:05 p.m. at ImOn Arena. They then return for a Black Out Black Friday game against the Lincoln Stars Friday, Nov. 28, at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex. The Bucs will be wearing specialty black out jerseys, available for auction on DASH following the game, a sunglasses giveaway, 2-for-1 beer, and Fireball Friday.
