Des Moines Buccaneers | Schedule Announcement
DES MOINES, IOWA - The Des Moines Buccaneers, a member of the United States Hockey League (USHL), announce the schedule for the 2024-25 Season.
The Buccaneers schedule consists of 62 games, 30* home and 30 road, plus two games in the Fall Classic. For the second straight season, the Buccaneers will play member teams in a cross-conference format.
The Buccaneers kick off the USHL season on the road, Saturday, September 28th at Young Arena against the Waterloo Black Hawks.
The Buccaneers HOME OPENER will be on Friday, October 4th at 7 P.M. against the Waterloo Black Hawks, kicking off 45 years of Buccaneers hockey at Buccaneer Arena – The Madhouse On Hickman!!
26 of the Buccaneers home games will be played on Friday and Saturday evenings with a few exceptions. This year, the Buccaneers will play two weeknight games. The Bucs will play Thursday, October 31st (Halloween) at 6:30 P.M. against Fargo Force. The final weeknight game falls on Tuesday, March 25th at 6:30 P.M. against the Waterloo Black Hawks. In addition, the Buccaneers will have one Sunday matinee one the schedule beginning at 3 P.M.
The Bucs home games by month are as follows: six (6) in October, five (5) in November, two (2) in December, three (3) in January, four (4) in February, six (6) in March and three (3) in April.
SCHEDULE NOTE: On Saturday, October 26th the Buccaneers home game against Sioux Falls is set to start at 4:00 P.M. rather than the usual 6:00 P.M.
New this year! The Bucs will head to Rochester, New York to play in the USHL's American Cup! They will play a home-and-home against the Green Bay Gamblers at Tim Horton's Ice Plex on Dec. 5th and 6th.
In September, the Des Moines Buccaneers will once again head out to the USHL Fall Classic held annually at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry Twp., Pennsylvania in the practice home and training facility of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Opponents, dates and times for the two games at the Fall Classic will be announced in July.
Des Moines Buccaneers returning players and those selected in Phase I and Phase II of the USHL Draft will compete to make the 2024-25 Buccaneers roster at the team's main camp held June 20-23 at the MidAmerican Energy RecPlex in West Des Moines, Iowa.
Main camp is open for fans to attend. Results of the Buccaneers Phase I Draft and Phase II Draft are available on all social media channels and the Bucs Website.
The NHL Entry Draft will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada on June 27th & 28th. In the Sphere. Be sure to tune in as Bucs player Ilya Protas is predicted to be drafted in the 2nd or 3rd round! The NHL draft is available to watch ESPN, ESPN+ and NHL Network.
