URBANDALE, Iowa -- The Des Moines Buccaneers mourn the loss of longtime staff member and current Vice President, Dawn Swanson.

Dawn served the Buccaneers in a variety of roles during her 27-year tenure, starting as an usher and working her way into the front office in roles such as Vice President and General Manager, just a few of the many hats she wore as a member of the Buccaneers. She was dedicated to the organization and will be missed. Dawn was 53 years old.

"Dawn was a woman pioneer in our league and did so much to help over the years. She will be remembered as someone who cared for people and was a top-notch sports executive. May she rest in peace," said USHL Commissioner Bill Robertson.

The Des Moines Buccaneers extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Dawn and all who knew her.

There will be no public viewing or funeral for Dawn and we ask that friends and fans respect her family and their privacy at this time.

The Buccaneers will honor the life and legacy of Dawn Swanson with a moment of silence prior to the game Saturday evening (Dec. 10) 6:00 p.m.
