URBANDALE, Iowa -- Des Moines defenseman Alex Pineau has announced his commitment to play NCAA Division I men's hockey at Ivy League Brown University.

Pineau is a 2003-born right-shot defender (6'2, 195 lbs) in his first season in the United States Hockey League. The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has 3 points in 11 games for the Buccaneers this season.

"Brown is getting a terrific player and an even better person in Alex," said Des Moines head coach Matt Curley. "He exemplifies what a student-athlete is and should be and will be a perfect fit in the ECAC and the Ivy League."

Pineau previously played junior hockey in both the CCHL and NAHL and hails from the Thunder Bay Kings AAA youth organization.
