This week's Select-A-Seat event has been postponed until Wednesday, September 17th, 2008 from 6:00 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fans will be able to come to arena during our Blue & Red Scrimmage and pick out their seats for their 2008 - 2009 season tickets. Visit with our new coaches, learn about the game of hockey, and enjoy the game with food, drinks and entertainment.
The Fall Classic will take place in Sioux City, Iowa for the second straight year, following an extremely successful inaugural event last fall. The Fall Classic features all 12 USHL teams each playing three games on September 25-27, 2008. Six games will be played each day, four at the Tyson Events Center's Gateway Arena and two at the IBP Ice Center. Today the Des Moines Buccaneers released their 2008 - 2009 roster. On the roster are ten returning players, including goaltender Fredrik Bergman, forward Rocco Carzo and defensemen Andrew Panzarella. To view the 25-man roster click here.
The Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League have just announced their schedule for the upcoming 2008-2009 season. Click here to view the schedule. "It's one of the most anticipated days of the year for some,” said USHL president Gino Gasparini, “To see where they will be to open the season and who will be in their building for the home opener. It's the first true sign that last season is finished and the new season is quickly approaching.” “Our schedule this season will give our fans a great opportunity to see our new and returning players,” said Des Moines Buccaneers president, Shawn Edwards. “With our 26 weekend games and four weeknight games, we will be able to provide our fans with the same great level of entertainment and an even higher level of hockey talent.” “We expect to have a very strong team which will include Joe Gleason and Nick Pryor, both of whom were selected by the NHL during the 2008 NHL Draft,” Edwards stated. The Bucs will again play a 60 game schedule, with 26 of their 30 home games being played on Friday and Saturday nights. They will also play three Thursday night games and one Wednesday night game. The Buccaneers will play their home opener on October 4th against the Tri-City Storm. All home games have a 7:00 PM start. Other highlights from the home schedule include: The Buccaneers will host the Indiana Ice on Saturday, November 1st. It’ll be the first home game that Associate Head Coach Scott McConnell will face his former team. On Thursday, November 27th, the Buccaneers will host their rivals the Omaha Lancers in a Thanksgiving night event. The defending Anderson Cup and Clark Cup champions will be in town for the second time in the season that night. The Buccaneers will host the newest addition to the USHL, the Fargo Force, for the first time on Friday, December 12th. The Buccaneers close out the season on April 3rd, with a fan appreciation night. Rivalries will come to a boil when the Buccaneers face off against the Waterloo Blackhawks that night.
